Ugliness is merely commonplace; deformity is sublime...
and we all wear the Devil's grin behind the mask of beauty.

My existence is enriched by knowing the unreconstructed tough guys, confident bad girls, obsessives, malcontents, thinkers, cultural terrorists, iconoclasts, moral humanists, fearless examiners of doctrine & dogma, fellow walkers on the 'path less travelled' & outsiders of every stripe whom I am blessed to call 'friends'.
My beautiful dreams are of malformations, of anomolous creatures & freaks; of riding the lightning & channeling an electrical reverstorm; of finding secret, hidden rooms, streets, buildings & other sites of glorious dereliction; of transcending the prison of the flesh in alchemical experiment - a razor carving me with Kabbalistic sigils & threading me a silver skin of needles.
My nightmares are of giving birth to mutated reptiles, sea creatures or monstrous, oversized bones; of discovering that I am trapped in someone else's body & life; of being unable to get away from a group of people that I despise, & who despise me; of dimly-lit rooms becoming darker when the light is turned on; of terror as I force myself to perform impossible physical actions.
I think it's important to keep examining your own beliefs, views & opinions, especially any moral convictions, emotional reactions or habitual responses that you cherish as 'true', or feel defensive of. It's especially important to be aware of & question any belief or opinion which seems to be 'common sense'. Often, under scrutiny, they will suddenly show themselves as anything but.
As something of a mysanthropist, I find myself fairly unhappy - & often downright disgusted - with people 'en masse'. For me, apart from rudeness, selfishness, self-righteousness, moral hypocrisy, greed, aggression, intolerance & stupidity - all of which are apparent if one spends a couple of hours on London transport during rush hour - the very worst attributes of humankind are willful ignorance, & mental laziness. Vast numbers of people simply can't be bothered to look beneath the surface, or examine what they believe in, & why...
Finally, beware, gentle reader, of anyone who believes that you or they are 'cool', for the desire to be perceived as 'cool' can only spell the ultimate destruction of genuine creativity & originality...
